I would only have to bring my Mac and could possibly continue to use the ZED for mainstage playback + guitar and vocal ins. my PA is already quite nice (EVZLX112P's as mains, A&H ZED 10FX mixer and Atomic CLR for monitor. It would raise some eyebrows around here I'm sure. behind a live great acoustic sound and very well produced vocals. I just think it would be killer to have some percussion, strings, etc.

If I figure out how to incorporate midi control I should also be able to change patches/turn FX ON/OFF from with there as well. I'm convinced I could get as good (or possibly much better) acoustic tones using the plugins from Mainstage and in my laptop vs. I've been spending a LOT of time on my Mac (even bringing it to work to mix and even track some stuff) so the more I can do with this thing, the more it's "worth to me".

But this is really a completely different (and advanced option) where I could start small and build into full blown productions with a cover band. I was also interested in that beat buddy pedal based drum machine but I still don't think it's out yet. I have always tried to leverage FX and some looping (from the AxeFX II or G3X) to take my game to a higher level.
I think I could try it at acoustic shows. I will need to really think things through and I'm considering flushing out the gear to make it happen, but slowly at first. I'm starting to understand it conceptually and putting into some practice. That is crazy trigging lighting changes as well! Sventvkg I'd love to see some type of rig rundown or even a live clip of your band using all of this together LIVE. But probably best to have a better suited multiple I/O interface if I'm going to get into that. There may even be a way to route the vocals into Mainstage for additional processing. I guess I could do this manually at an acoustic gig for starters. The only issue would be routing of the click (I could try and work around that) and starts and stops of songs in mainstage. all being routed through mainstage and the MAC TO/FROM the ZED which I use anyway. Then instead of having to loop on the G3X in realtime I could actually build songs/sets with percussion, pads, extra guitar, etc. I might be able to leave the G3X in the bag and plug acoustic into the ZED, get some cool sounding patches using SGear and built in stuff in Mainstage.
I have an acoustic show on Friday, I'm already wondering how to build a rig to get my feet wet. It should also have multiple dedicated outs so for example the click could be routed to a dedicated output and possibly even a dense mix (percussion, bass, softsynths) could have dedicated outs which would run to an upstream FOH mixer? So I need to figure out how I want to control everything (I need a midi keyboard controller for recording anyway) and I'm thinking the interface IN/OUT of the Mac should have 5 pin midi I/O for use with a foot controller.
I had a Presonus 16.0.2 which I loved, I bet that would integrate beautifully with this type of setup. I need to map things out but this could be tremendous for stepping this up at cover AND original gigs (including acoustic). I think they also bundle those with Ableton Live Lite and some nice plugins as well. I've seen some cool vids with a guy using Mainstage and a Focusrite.

I need to consider a dedicated sound card and have a lot of experience with Focusrite (Scarlett and Saffire) on the PC side. Mainstage loaded up with some killer stems + live guitar(s) using SGear and possibly live stabs/triggers using a foot controller / USB midi keyboard and SynthMasters. Keep in mind this is using my ZED 10FX which only has a stereo out (L/R) so there are no real options for routing and such, but I'm starting to think this could be an insane rig. so in seconds I'm jamming to the backing tracks (testing mode) and playing SGear in realtime! Mainstage found SGear, my softsynth SynthMasters. I was checking the amp sims (pretty cool) and then I realized for the original recording (in Reaper) my guitars are using SGear so why not try to incorporate both. I bought Mainstage ($30!) and I was able to export stems from Reaper as a test, bring them into Mainstage and do some testing.
